Frequently Asked Questions

How Can We Help?

  • When Will My Vehicle Be Picked Up?
For a common shipment it will typically take one to seven business days from the time your reservation has been acknowledged to locate a carrier and schedule a time for pick-up. Expedited services are available for rush shipments and time sensitive transports.
  • When Will My Vehicle Be Delivered?
Based on mileage, once your vehicle has been picked up, it will often be delivered in a period from one to ten days. Transporting time may vary based on multiple deliveries. Carriers are restricted to speed and driving time based on regional and federal laws. Also, road conditions and weather are taken into effect.
  • Is My Vehicle Insured During Transportation?
Your vehicle will be insured against in-transit damage caused by carrier negligence or equipment failure by the assigned auto shipping or car transport truck. These auto shipping and car transport trucks, by law, carry a minimum of $750,000 public liability coverage.
  • How Do I Pay For My Auto Shipping?
All major credit cards, electronic transfer, postal money order, bank/certified check will be accepted for deposit or full pre-payment. If there is a balance due upon delivery, the auto shipping and car transport carrier will accept cash, postal money order or bank/certified check.
  • Does Someone Have To Be Present For Pick-up And Delivery?
Yes, there must be someone present to accept the vehicle, provide keys and sign an inspection report. This person can be anyone over the age of 18.

  • Can I Put Items In My Vehicle?
We advise you not to, as personal items are not insured if they are damaged or reported missing. If you decide to pack personal items inside your vehicle, it must not exceed 100 Ibs and must be kept in the trunk or back seats below the window line.

  • How Far in Advance Should I Schedule My Transport?
The farther in advance you schedule your shipment, the more likely we will be able to meet the time requirements you desire. For best results, try to schedule your transport at least 2-3 weeks in advance.
  • When Will I Be Charged?
Once a driver has been assigned to the vehicle, which is normally on Pick-Up date or 1-3 days prior. The deposit or full price will be charged to your selected method of payment. The remaining payments are based on agreed terms of payment.
  • Do You Provide Tracking Information?
Yes. Pleas call us at 1(855) 542-8537 for tracking information.
  • Where Will My Vehicle Be Picked Up And Delivered?
The auto shipping or car transport driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely get. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport trucks are spacious and need lots of clearance to maneuver and turn around. Therefore if access to the pickup or delivery location is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees or tight turns, the driver may ask that you meet the truck at a large parking lot nearby, such as a supermarket.
  • Will You Deliver Motorcycles and Vehicles That Do Not Run?
Yes. Coastal Car Transport specializes in dropping off vehicles of all types. Regardless of the vehicle’s function, we deliver. Although we deliver vehicles that may be inoperable, the vehicle MUST roll and steer. There is an additional fee for inoperable vehicles. Specialty, classic and exotic cars are welcomed.
  • How Do I Handle A Damaged Vehicle At The Time Of Delivery?
While it is our intent to deliver all vehicles without damage, we understand that in rare cases accidents do happen. It is important for customers to inspect their vehicles upon receipt. If damage is noticed, customers should contact our office immediately. Damage should be documented on the “Bill of Lading” received from the driver. The time frame for reporting damage is short (7 days). If a report is not made in a timely manner, we will not be able to assist you with the damage.
